It's the work life...

I am working quite a lot at the moment... getting to know Constru Casa, its work and its procedures. And of course getting to know all the people we work with... there are so many!
Here for example is Carlos, one of our masons. He is a very cheerful guy, and loves to play football after a lng day of construction work. He is so skilled by now that he builds a Constru Casa house in 8 days!

Here is his team, Manuel and Mario. Mario gave me some delicious deer he hunted in the mountains over the weekend. Mmmm....

Installed the door the wrong way around... sorry Carlos, go again!

Our roofs: Lamina Primium... haha.

This is Ranferí, our construction manager. I work most closely with him at the moment. He is a great guy, very funny, serious in his work, and very competent.

This is the latest house we have constructed, in Villa Nueva, Guatemala.

This is our newest construction in Las Pampas, on the coast of Guatemala.

Construction is finished, let's go!

And, as promised, a new image of my house! This is our front door:

Hasta pronto amigos!

WELCOME TO THE BLOG... First impressions!

Hello you all!

Finally, here the promised page where you will be able to follow me from afar... I will want to post mostly images, but let me give you some basic facts nevertheless:

- I spent some amazingly hot days in Miami, resulting in sudden migraines for both of us... but plenty of eye-candy... hehe!

- Off to Guate with soooo much luggage, hardly bearable, hmm carryable. Good thing they lost my bicycle in Miami... and brought it straight to my house the next day. But of course it could not be THAT easy, a broken brake disc was the price I had to pay... but anyways. Moved into my new house, very cozy! Below the view from the kitchen into the patio... the plan is to show you one image of my house with each new post...

- WORK! And already on the second day I find myself working with Constru Casa. We are building homes for poor families in Guatemala. Here just a few impressions of my first days of work. I will be writing a lot about Constru Casa in the future, but if you are impatient go to: www.construcasa.org to learn more.

- On the first weekend off to the beach. A picture from the cementery we visited on our way to save all the turtles of Guatemala... on the sign it says: Gilberto Galindo, Cel. 5676 - 0879... whatever.

Hasta la proxima amigos!
